For Day 5 I made a case for my Snake Eyes collection. This is a metal grate soldered to a hinge to create a gate-like opening. The other side is stationary. There are also four copper wrappers on each corner to give it an older look. The case is made of 7/16 oak.

I was looking to make an organic body part out of something cold and industrial. Came up with this – its my Heart Shaped Copper Box. The whole piece came out of a large flat sheet of copper that’s about 2/3 the thickness of a penny and its about yay big. Hard to tell from the pics, but all the joints are soldered together.

Starting out a post-a-day project for 2013. My wife and I are both going to participate. I’m always looking for a reason to create.

This is a maple cabinet that I made for my living room. I drew the girl with the gas mask on the front and the planes on the inside. I made the copper handles for the drawers. The drawers I made are actually individual boxes that pull out and have lids. The dovetails are all hand cut and chiseled. It was a great project to hone in on my dovetailing. All in all, its about 16 inches tall and 9 3/4 inches across.
